Nonprofit Sustainability Center
The Nonprofit Sustainability Center (NSC) helps mission-driven organizations and funders build the resilience needed to carry their work forward. We strengthen the essential capacities that enable nonprofits to navigate disruption, mobilize people and partnerships, and demonstrate results – so they can adapt with purpose and deliver meaningful, lasting impact. Whether supporting an individual organization, a collaborative partnership, or an entire portfolio of grantees, NSC helps sustain outcomes that matter.
Our Approach
At NSC, we’ve found through years of work and research that resilient, high-impact organizations share four essential characteristics: Vision, Engagement, Impact, and Resources.
By strengthening these capacities, we help organizations and funders sustain progress toward their most critical goals – ensuring that outcomes last beyond any single grant cycle, leader, or program structure.
Why NSC Is Especially Important Now
Nonprofits and funders are facing what many are calling “colliding crises” - rising demand for essential services at the same time that government funding has become much less reliable.
A recent Nonprofit Finance Fund survey found that many organizations are “under strain” due to inflation, funding uncertainty, and increased costs just to maintain basic operations. Meanwhile, policy shifts are threatening, and in some cases eliminating, equity-focused programs and supports for disadvantaged communities just as those communities are experiencing acute need.
That’s where NSC matters – not only in stable times, but especially now. We help nonprofits and philanthropic partners protect and build the capacities that make programs resilient. We support them to clarify strategy, engage their communities, measure what matters, and secure resource approaches aligned with long-term impact – because preserving what works is more urgent now than ever.
