Services provided to the workforce by MassHire Greater Brockton Career Center
We work with members of the workforce who have been laid off and other adults who meet certain federal eligibility guidelines. Through a range of workshops and seminars, we provide support and guidance to workers who are going through professional transitions by assisting with all aspects of job searching, skills training, and job readiness training, helping them to return to work sooner and at a wage comparable to their previous employment.
Our Workforce Development services include:
Career Center access: All Career Center members receive a comprehensive orientation, familiarizing them with the range of services and trainings offered through the center and enabling them to take a self-directed approach to re-employment. They have ongoing access to our resource room and computer labs and can enroll in our workshops.
Customized Job Search assistance: We help customers tailor their job search around their particular skill sets, experience levels and career goals, and we provide access to job leads through notification of “Hot jobs” listed by companies that work with our Business Services unit.
Individual Vocational Counseling: Customers who choose intensive services are enrolled with an experienced vocational counselor who provides access to the latest labor market information and job leads that are updated on a daily basis. The counselor assesses their skills, discusses their needs, and guides them through their job search.
Development of a Career Action Plan: We offer all customers of the Career Center the option of creating a Career Action Plan to help them organize their job search and/or training needs. The plan articulates goals and objectives and defines specific actions to achieve them.
Job Readiness Training: We offer workshops and training in subjects that include: resume writing, interviewing skills, networking, and English as a Second Language. Customers select the services that best meet their needs.
Vocational training/Skills Upgrade: Eligible adults and dislocated workers may be able to attend training programs in an effort to increase marketability and job readiness. We have helped workers build upon their skills by offering trainings in the following areas: computer technology, medical interpreting, major appliance repair, heavy equipment operation, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, and Six Sigma Green belt training.
Job Development: After becoming job-ready, customers are encouraged to take advantage of our job placement assistance services which include: access to a computerized job bank, placement into our resume database, and on-the-job training opportunities.
Career Center staff Job Matching Program: Enrolled customers have access to our customized job matching program, an ongoing effort coordinated by MassHire Greater Brockton Career Center employer service representatives and career counselors, which sources job openings at local companies, identifies potential candidates to fill those openings, and notifies job seekers of available positions and how to apply for them.
