Crises like the COVID-19 outbreak shine a light on existing inequalities. While much of the discourse around the coronavirus focuses on “at-risk” populations, such as individuals with pre-existing conditions or the elderly, researchers are also highlighting the relationship between demographic and socioeconomic characteristics and COVID-19. While virtually every community in the Commonwealth has been impacted by COVID-19, we see notable concentrations in urban areas, particularly Gateway Cities, around the state.
