Information Technology: The New Foundation
April 1999
The information technology sector helped drive the recovery of the 1990s and remains a key sector in the Massachusetts economy. In this 1999 study for the Massachusetts Telecommunications Council, the relative size, composition and growth trends of the sector are discussed. While manufacturing in this sector has lagged, software and systems integration provide direct benefits to the Commonwealth and offer extraordinary access to other key clusters in the state. Regional patterns in the development of the sector are analyzed.
