UMDI Applied Research and Evaluation leaders attend QRIS National Network Meeting
Members of the Applied Research and Program Evaluation unit participated in the 2015 QRIS National Network Meeting July 15-17 in National Harbor Maryland. ARPE’s Steven Ellis and Lonnie Kaufman attended this meeting of early education and care policy makers, professionals, and researchers, which focused on the implementation and study of quality ratings and improvement systems (QRIS). Kaufman leads ARPE’s validation study team, which is assessing the effectiveness of Massachusetts’ QRIS in regard to its differentiation of quality and the association of quality tiers and child development outcomes.
Precedent to the QRIS National Network Meeting, Ellis and Kaufman attended a meeting of The Quality Initiatives Research and Evaluation Consortium (INQUIRE), which is designed to facilitate the identification of issues and the development and exchange of information and resources related to the research and evaluation of quality rating and improvement systems and other quality initiatives.
