Professor Michael Hannahan visits Iraq to discuss U.S. elections
Dr. Michael Hannahan, Director of the University of Massachusetts Donahue Institute Civic Initiative has been invited to discuss the U.S. elections with scholars and students at a number of Iraqi Universities.
The trip, sponsored by the Department of State, addresses the interest in American elections in Iraq’s Kurdistan region. The lectures will center on the American electoral process and the effects of the election on U.S. policy in the Middle East.
Dr. Hannahan will visit Duhok University, University of Sulaimaniyah, American University in Iraq-Sulaimaniyah, and the University of Kurdistan-Hawler.
The Civic Initiative, in keeping with its mission “Democracy Education at Home and Abroad” sponsors programs that address the quality of local democracy as well as hosting a number of international programs for the Department of State, and the Department of Education.
