NFFS leverages over $9 million for nonprofits in 2018, so far
It's been a particularly fruitful year thus far for the grantwriting team at the Institute’s Nonprofit Funding & Fiscal Solutions(NFFS) group.
In the past six months, they leveraged approximately $9.26 million for nonprofits serving disadvantaged children, youth, and families, including the following community-based organizations and programs:
- Bridge Family Center (W. Hartford, CT) received their full grant request from the federal Family & Youth Services Bureau (FYSB) Homeless & Runaway Youth Program to support their Basic Center program for homeless and runaway youth
- Kids in Crisis (Greenwich, CT) received funding from FYSB’s Homeless and Runaway Youth Program to support their Basic Center program for homeless and runaway youth.
- MA Down Syndrome Congress (Burlington MA) received their full request from the Deborah Munroe Noonan Memorial Fund to support the launch of MDSC’s Your Next Star Job Preparedness Training Academy.
- New Beginnings (Lewiston, ME) received two awards from FYSB’s Homeless and Runaway Youth Program, one for their Transitional Living Program and the other for their Basic Center Program.
- The Care Center (Holyoke, MA) received a one year grant from the MA Department of Elementary and Secondary Education to support their award-winning arts-focused afterschool program for students at the Peck Middle School in Holyoke.
- The Care Center (Holyoke, MA) received a two-year award from the Balfour Foundation to support Bard Microcollege Holyoke.
- The Care Center (Holyoke, MA) successfully bid on its once-every-ten-year state Young Parents Program (YPP) grant, receiving their full request.
- Wayside Youth & Family Support Network (Framingham, MA) received two awards from FYSB’s Homeless and Runaway Youth Program, one for their Transitional Living Program, and the other for their Basic Center Program .
- Youth Continuum (New Haven, CT) received an award from the CT Dept. of Housing to operate an emergency shelter, rapid rehousing program, and youth navigator program for homeless young adults in the New Haven area.
"This has been our most productive six months since NFFS luanched in 2015," said Sharon Vardatira, NFFS director.
