Latest UMDI/CHAPA poll results highlight difficulty Mass. residents continue to have making ends meet

Housing Costs Continue to Make it Difficult to Make Ends Meet
Latest UMass/CHAPA Poll finds nearly half of Mass residents fear losing their job, 1 in 4 worried about making housing payments

Residents of Massachusetts remain deeply concerned about the affordability of housing in spite of recent declines in housing prices, according to the 2009 UMass Donahue Institute/Citizens’ Housing and Planning Association Housing Poll.  The Poll finds large numbers of Massachusetts residents very concerned about their job security and their ability to make ends meet; strongly in support of development of new affordable housing in their communities; and overwhelmingly in favor of new policies to protect renters from being displaced by foreclosures and increasing state support for at-risk families.
