Latest MassBenchmarks examines recovery, redevelopment, and renewal
The latest issue of MassBenchmarks, the economic journal published by the UMass Donahue Institute in cooperation with the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston looks at the lasting impact of the Great Recession on Massachusetts’ economic performance and the ways that current federal budget policies and land-use guidelines are hindering prospects for a robust recovery.
The issue also includes articles about the continuing evolution of the city of Lawrence and efforts to redevelop the state’s other “Gateway Cities,” midsized urban centers where industry once prospered, but where translating resources to today’s knowledge-based economy has been a struggle. Director of Economic and Public Policy Daniel Hodge contributed the Endnotes to the issue, “Taking Stock of the Gateway Cities—Economic Conditions and Opportunities.”
