International groups descend on Amherst for classes and culture
Each summer for over 10 years, the UMass Civic Initiative has hosted multiple groups of international faculty, students and professionals for multi-week programs. The summer kicked off with groups from Pakistan and Argentina starting their programs in entrepreneurship and public policy, respectively. Groups made up of Iraqi and Pakistani college students and international professors will soon arrive.
Our very first group to arrive is from the Balochistan province of Pakistan. Fifteen university faculty from Balochistan University of Information Technology, Engineering and Management Sciences (BUITEMS), Sardar Bahadur Khan Women's University and the University of Balochistan will spend the next five weeks learning how to implement the teaching of entrepreneurship in their classrooms. They enjoyed a welcoming dinner at Monkey Bar in Amherst in between classroom sessions on campus.
This group is reflecting on their experiences on a group blog found here.
