Careerworks gets five-year renewal to provide services to Brockton and surrounding areas
The Institute was recently reauthorized to manage CareerWorks, the one-stop career services center in downtown Brockton. The charter’s five-year term will start on July 1, 2017. The Institute will operate the center under its current charter until then.
CareerWorks provides a one-stop location for job seekers and also serves as a liaison to match local employers’ needs with the skills of area workers. The center serves job seekers and employers in Brockton, Abington, Avon, Bridgewater, East Bridgewater, Easton, Hanson, Stoughton, West Bridgewater, and Whitman.
The charter’s reauthorization was part of a competitive request for proposal (RFP) process as required by the 2014 Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA). WIOA was the first legislative reform of the public workforce system since 1998. The charter is run by the Brockton Area Workforce Investment Board and CareerWorks is managed by UMass Donahue Institute.
