Commentary: Severe February 2015 storms slowed but did not damage state economy
The MassBenchmarks Editorial Board released their commentary on the effects on the severe winter storms that affected much of the region in February 2015.
While the February snowstorms may have temporarily slowed the Massachusetts economy, they do not appear to have derailed the healthy expansion that the Commonwealth has been experiencing in recent quarters. While the storms hurt some sectors of the economy, others benefitted. The prospects for a continuing expansion are good. In 2014, the U.S. economy had its best year since before the financial crisis and national forecasters are generally expecting steady growth in 2015.
