Services provided by the Civic Initiative
We take a multidisciplinary approach to promoting civic engagement, creating programs that allow participants to get a deeper understanding of the politics and culture shaping U.S. society, foster international cooperation, and promote cross-cultural exchange.
Our relationship with the University of Massachusetts gives us access to a vast network of scholars and educators and a well-established infrastructure that enables us to develop courses, customize content, and address topics in multiple subject areas. Those areas include, but are not limited to political science, history, religious tolerance, conflict resolution, civic engagement, English as a Second Language (ESL), teaching methods and educational theory, leadership development, and social entrepreneurship.
As a leader in international programming, we have brought high school students, college students, graduate Fulbright scholars, secondary school teachers, and professors from the U.S. and throughout the world to the UMass Amherst campus anually since 2005. Our wide range of programs give participants exposure and insight into topics as varied as American politics, public policy, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) education and American college admissions.
Our programs are categorized into the following areas:
