WGBH: Peep and the Big Wide World/El Mundo de Peep: Use of Online Professional Development

In a study funded by the National Science Foundation, the Applied Research and Program Evaluation group piloted three 3-week curriculum modules in order to complete a formative evaluation of teaching resources based on WGBH’s Emmy Award-winning preschool science and math series "PEEP and the Big World". Developed for use by family childcare providers, these resources supplement the show’s themes and provide media and professional development materials in both English and Spanish.

The study evaluated the effectiveness of PEEP’s resources for family childcare providers and found that the teaching strategies, activities, and videos were consistent with best practices in the early education field and that providers enjoyed utilizing them.
