A Study of Smith Vocational and Agricultural High School Governance and Financial Structures

The Department of Elementary and Secondary Education issued a report recently on the governance and financing of the Smith Vocational and Agricultural High School. The report was prepared under the department’s direction by UMass Donahue Institute. Smith, the oldest vocational public school in the Commonwealth, is located in Northampton, although it is operated independently from the Northampton Public Schools and serves students throughout the Pioneer Valley. The report helps the school explore ways to strengthen and expand its programs without placing an undue financial burden on its host city.
