Teaching science and math to the youngest of students

In the midst of national reports stating that the US is facing a shortage of future STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) workers, educators are focusing on the youngest of students: preschool-age children. It's not a matter of introducing math or science earlier but rather encouraging an existing interest in how the world works.

Ruth-Ann Rasbold, co-director of the Insitute's New England Training & Technical Assistance Network is quoted in the article and mentions the 2016 Massachusetts STEM Summit as a showcase for exhibits and sessions focusing on the teaching of STEM to preschoolers.
