Worcester Telegram & Gazette: Jobs on the rise at Devens
The Worcester Telegram published an article focusing on a recent report by the UMass Donahue Institute's Economic and Public Policy Research group on employment and business growth at the former Army base in Devens. According to the report, 426 jobs have been added over the past three years and there are now 3,634 people employed at Devens, with an average annual wage of $69,210.
The manufacturing industry accounts for more jobs than any other industry in Devens. It includes companies like Bristol-Myers Squibb Co., Dunkin' Donuts, Northrup-Grumman Corp. and Saint-Gobain.
"As home to a thriving community of high-tech and related businesses, Devens, Massachusetts, is a significant employment center and contributor to the Commonwealth's high-tech economy," the report said.
