Worcester Business Journal: Mass. Growth Hit 4% In 2nd Quarter
The Worcester Business Journal summarized the findings of the latest MassBenchmarks bulletin on the state of the Massachusetts economy. During the second quarter of 2102, the Commonwealth’s economy grew at a four percent rate, nearly three times the nation’s 1.2 percent growth rate. At the same time, the state’s unemployment measured at 6 percent, down from 6.5 percent in the previous quarter. The U.S. unemployment rate remained at 8.2 percent.
The state’s economic performance is threatened by economic weakness in Europe and slowing growth in China.
