2035 population projections: Springfield, Western Mass. to see growth via domestic migration
Based on a report released today, domestic migration, mostly of college students and the smaller cohort of recent graduates of area colleges, who stay and put down roots, will be the primary driver of local population growth until the year 2035.
State-wide growth is expected to be more robust, according to "Long-term Population Projections for Massachusetts Regions and Municipalities" released by the Institute's Population Estimates Program.
