The Greenfield Recorder: Vt. Yankee layoffs to begin in Jan
With the Vermont Yankee nuclear plant slated to cease operations at the end of the year, The Recorder published an article on the January layoffs, which will cut 165 jobs. The UMass Donahue Institute’s Economic and Public Policy Research group is in the process of preparing a tri-state area economic impact analysis to determine how layoffs will affect areas of Vermont, New Hampshire and Massachusetts.
The UMass Center for Economic Development has estimated the plant’s closing would cost the three-state area $300 million in economic activity over the next decade.
