India/Pakistan independence celebrated in Amherst

The "Pakistan Trolley", an institute community project, takes part

An October 1st event at the Amherst Town Hall celebrated the independence and cultures of India and Pakistan. Both countries earned their independence from England in 1947. Amherst Town Councillor Shalini-Bahl Milne, an Indian immigrant, co-organized the event with several community members from Pakistan and India. The "Pakistan Trolley" was also present and provided the colorful backdrop for the event. UMass CIvic Initiative Director Mike Hannahan spoke about the trolley to the attendees.
