Mike Goodman comments on how the economy impacts voters
As in the past, the present economy can play a crucial role in helping voters decide who to cast their vote for. With the rise of unemployment, an enormous number of housing foreclosures, and a very slow business growth this election year proves to be no exception.
"It's understandable that the subject has shifted to economic issues as the national economy has started to slow significantly," said Michael Goodman, director of economic and public policy research at UMass Donahue Institute. "In states like Michigan and South Carolina, not unlike Lowell, you have communities that have been hit hard by many economic conditions for some years now."
