MassLive and Daily Hampshire Gazette: Marijuana public health concerns discussed at UMass symposium
From the article:
UMass offered the forum to help prepare all those who will deal with the public health implications, said Risa Silverman, director of the Office for Public Health Practice and Outreach.
She said the implications "are far-ranging."
More than 100 attended, including police, officials, boards of health representatives and students from area communities, two members of the Massachusetts Cannabis Control Commission and representatives from AAA.
A collaboration, meanwhile, between the School of Public Health and Health Sciences, the UMass Donahue Institute and staff at the state Department of Public Health is working on the Marijuana Baseline Health Study that began last year.
