Adams Adopts Age Friendly Berkshires Resolution

"By adopting the policy, (Council on Aging Director Erica Girgenti) said, when the town makes improvements it pledges to better outdoor space, town buildings, emergency preparedness, housing, transportation and health services with the elderly in mind. She added that the town also pledges to support social participation, respect and social inclusion, civil participation, employment options, and community support for the elderly."
Girgenti quoted data from the Institute's Population Estimates Program reporting that, statewide, Berkshire County has the second highest proportion of it's population 65 or older and it will only grow larger in the coming years.
