The state Cannabis Control Commission seeks to right the wrongs of the war on drugs
In 2021, the institute's Economic & Public Policy Research group and the UMass Amherst School of Public Health and Health Sciences delivered a report to the Massachusetts Cannabis Control Commission focusing on communities that have previously been disproportionately harmed by cannabis prohibition.
Commissioner Ava Callender Concepcion penned an opinion piece about how the Commonwealth's cannabis industry is providing benefits to areas in the state that were disproportionately affected by the war on drugs. The commission is now soliciting public input on the targeted areas and the commission's work.
