‘Our sector does not function without immigrants’: Employers grapple with loss of Haitian TPS holders
With immigration slowing, workforce shortages could intensify across human services and other sectors.
A new Boston Globe article highlights the growing importance of immigration to Massachusetts' economic future. Citing research from MassINC Policy Center and Boston Indicators, the article notes that:
"Massachusetts needs at least 60,000 net new immigrants a year by 2030 to maintain its working-age population."
The report also warns that declining immigration levels could put the Commonwealth at risk of economic contraction.
These findings reinforce the importance of understanding workforce demographics and labor market trends across sectors.
