Half of casino hires were unemployed or working part-time, survey finds
A new study by the Institute's Economic & Public Policy Research group says that approximately half of the new hires at Plainridge Park Casino were either unemployed or working part-time when hired. Another finding was that many did move from outside the area to gain employment at the casino.
The Plainridge Park Casino is the state's first legal gaming facility. Two other casinos are under construction in Everett and Springfield.
